SUPER GARNET
Our distinguished brand, Super Garnet, is a natural, non-metallic mineral abrasive extracted from the Gulf of Mannar beaches. The grains' distinct curved cubical shape is a result of enduring centuries of wave action without any grinding or particle breakage during mining and processing. This makes Super Garnet a pure virgin almandine garnet from the gem family, known for being the heaviest and hardest among garnets, allowing for higher cutting speeds while maintaining low dust levels. The crystal structure contributes to its quick cutting action and extended lifespan, making Super Garnet a highly efficient and effective abrasive material.
ATLANTIS holds a deep emotional connection with Super Garnet, considering it the leading abrasive globally. With 99% purity, Super Garnet is widely recognized and preferred in applications like sandblasting, water jet cutting, water filtration, and surface preparation due to its high purity and low salinity.
Our product meets the highest quality standards and conforms to ISO 11126-10 and SSPC AB-1. The natural semi-precious attributes of Super Garnet, along with its unique properties, truly justify its reputation as the "Gem of an Abrasive."
Ilmenite
Ilmenite, a placer mineral found in select regions globally, holds significant value for various industries due to its versatile applications, spanning from the pigment to steel sectors. The predominant use of Ilmenite worldwide, exceeding 96%, lies in the form of titanium dioxide (TiO2), renowned for its strategic versatility. ATLANTIS initiated Ilmenite production in the early 2000s in anticipation of export permits, culminating in the first delivery to a client in October 2000. Currently, our production capacity stands at 500,000 metric tonnes annually, with plans for gradual expansion contingent upon market dynamics. Our product range encompasses multiple grades of high-quality sulphate-grade Ilmenite, in escalating demand for their favorable attributes of high digestibility and minimal levels of Fe203, U, Th, Cr2O3, among others. At present, we operate eight processing facilities (as of 2013) with intentions to establish two additional plants, thereby augmenting our capability to offer a broader spectrum of products compared to conventional mineral processing techniques.
RUTILE
Rutile, a significant titanium ore, is utilized in the production of titanium dioxide pigments and high-tech titanium metal alloys known for their lightweight, strength, and corrosion resistance. Despite its reddish appearance, rutile appears black to the naked eye. The majority of rutile, over 90%, is used to produce white pigment, with the remainder utilized for making titanium sponge and metal. Indian rutile sand is primarily utilized in the welding electrode industry. Rutile ore is abundant in countries such as Australia, India, South Africa, Ukraine, and Sierra Leone, with additional suppliers in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Madagascar, Brazil, and Mozambique.
ATLANTIS is the primary private rutile manufacturer in India, serving the welding electrode sector. We take pride in the fact that the leading welding electrode manufacturers use our Rutile. Our brand stands out for its easy grindability due to optimal sizing.
ZIRCON
Zircon, normally a transparent beige coloured glassy mineral, finds its place in many an industrial application worldwide. Starting from ceramic tiles and refractories to a range of high-tech applications, Zircon compounds have a very low toxicity and are not perceived as a potential environmental hazard. They are even said to have some medicinal properties and are now increasingly preferred in the manufacture of food products and pharmaceuticals as well.
ATLANTI'S zircon sand, also known as OpaZr, stands out for its exceptional whiteness and impressive durability. Zircon is a key component in ceramic production, enhancing the strength, brightness, and shape of ceramic goods. The heat resistance of any ceramic item depends on the zircon content and quality. OpaZr boasts a melting point of about 2200°C, making it indispensable for advanced uses like armor plating on military planes, heat shields on space shuttles, and potentially in solid oxide fuel cells for hydrogen-powered vehicles, as well as in various industrial, chemical, and even minor dental applications.
